Linda Houck, 71, died in her home on February 21, 2018 after a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She joined her parents, Melvin and Sybil Densmore in Heaven. Linda was born in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Georgia when she was 4 following the death of her father. Linda graduated cum laude from the Medical Center of Central Georgia, and received her BS Degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing. She completed Emory’s University School of Medicine studies in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics as a nurse practitioner. Linda ended her career as a public health nurse from Crawford County and the State of Georgia due to her Parkinson’s Disease. During her tenure, she was awarded the Maggie Kine Award for outstanding accomplishments in nursing.
Linda leaves behind her deeply loved and liked husband of over 32 years, Chuck Houck. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynch; son, James Houck (Kristen) and grandchildren, Nakalya Williamson, Gabriel Payne, and James Henry Houck.
The family would especially like to thank her caretakers, Nitra Kendride, Jamilla Green, Chanella Walker, and Lolita Nunnally for the loving care they provided Linda during the past year. The nurses of Pine Pointe Hospice were also greatly appreciated for their support.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Roberta United Methodist Church with the Reverends’ John Irwin and Tommy Odom officiating. Burial will be held at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Greshamville, GA, next to her beloved mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest donations be made to the Parkinson’s Association or charity of choice.
