Natalie Barnard Beall Newsom joined her Lord and Savior peacefully at her son's residence in Montana on the eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord, 2023. Natalie was born the 5th of April 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia. She is survived by her two children, Eric Newsom, III of Corvallis, Montana, and Caroline Newsom of Murphey, North Carolina. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law Marjorie Newsom, who lovingly cared for her in her final days. Natalie leaves behind five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Natalie is preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Law Beall, and Caroline Boatenreiter Beall, her sister, Carolyn Beall Gray, and her husband of fifty-six years, Eric Newsom, Jr. She is additionally preceded in death by her grandson Philip McKinley. Natalie was a graduate of Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She also attended the University of Georgia where she majored in Home Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mama was a devoted wife and mother, and dearly loved her family. She was a devout Christian, and a devoted student of the Word of God. Her family often referred to her as a "walking concordance". Mama taught numerous women's Bible studies throughout Middle Georgia. Mama was one of the last of the true Southern Belles, and was the epitome of a true Southern lady.
Visitation will be at McLeighton Funeral Service in Reynolds, Georgia from 6 - 8PM on Monday 9/18. The service will be on 9/19 at 1PM at Community Fellowship Church in Reynolds, Georgia. A short graveside service will follow. The cemetery is VERY close to the church. There will be a time of fellowship and BBQ eating after the service. Caroline and I would love to see everyone.
